German GP: Stats and history.

Facts and figures for Sunday's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

WINS:
Australian Mark Webber has won more races than any driver this season, chalking up his third for Red Bull at the British Grand Prix.
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button and Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel have won two each while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has one victory.
Ferrari have won 211 times while McLaren are the second most successful team with 168 victories. Williams have 113 wins. Red Bull have 11.

PODIUM:

Hamilton has now racked up four podium finishes in a row, the first time he has done that since his debut season in 2007 when he had nine in succession.

POLE POSITION:

Webber, Hamilton and Vettel are the only drivers to have won from pole this season. Six of the 10 races have been won by drivers not on pole.
Vettel's pole at Silverstone was the 10th of his career. Ferrari have not been on pole since Brazil 2008.
Red Bull have been on pole in nine of the last 10 races.
Vettel has taken five of them.

QUALIFYING:

Red Bull have locked out the front row in five of the 10 races so far this season.
Red Bull have also started the last 14 races with at least one car on the front row. Button has not qualified on the front row since Turkey in June 2009.
Four races this season have been won by drivers who did not start on the front row.
Renault's Russian rookie Vitaly Petrov is the only driver yet to out-qualify his team mate this season. Poland's Robert Kubica has a 10-0 record against him.

POINTS:

Ferrari failed to score at Silverstone, their first race without a point since the 2009 season-ender in Abu Dhabi.

GERMANY:

The last German to win his home grand prix was Michael Schumacher with Ferrari in 2006 at Hockenheim.
Sunday will be the seven-times world champion's first appearance at Hockenheim for Mercedes.
Six German drivers will be competing on Sunday but Schumacher and Vettel are the only ones to have won a race and only Schumacher has won at home. The others are Adrian Sutil (Force India), Nico Rosberg (Mercedes), Timo Glock (Virgin), Nico Hulkenberg (Williams).

MILESTONE:

Sauber are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sauber Motorsport, which started out with founder Peter Sauber building racing cars in the cellar of his parents' house. The C29 cars will carry a message to highlight the fact.

Resume of the last five races at Hockenheim:

2008 - Lewis Hamilton, McLaren:

Hamilton won from pole, although he was down in fifth with 16 laps to go thanks to a safety car interlude, to go four points clear of Felipe Massa in the championship. Nelson Piquet Jr finished second after starting 17th. Massa was third.

2006 - Michael Schumacher, Ferrari:

Schumacher's farewell to his home crowd before retiring brought him the 89th win of his career and third in a row that season. Kimi Raikkonen started on pole for McLaren but came third, his first finish at Hockenheim in six attempts.

2005 - Fernando Alonso, Renault:

A perfect day for Alonso, another nightmare for Raikkonen with his fifth retirement in five German GPs. The Finn suffered a hydraulics failure while leading from pole position.
Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya took his McLaren from the back of the grid to second place.

2004 - Michael Schumacher, Ferrari:

Schumacher, starting on pole, equalled his own record of 11 wins in a season. Jenson Button overtook Alonso 13 laps from the end to finish second.
 

2003 - Juan Pablo Montoya, Williams:

Montoya won from pole. Schumacher fought his way up to second place from sixth before a puncture three laps from the end left him seventh.
Hockenheim was one of the longest of modern grand prix circuits, as well as one of the fastest, before the main straight through the forest was chopped out.
The German Grand Prix was first held there in 1970. Since 2008, Hockenheim has alternated with the Nurburgring.
