The Russian skating star Evgeni Plushenko will miss the World Figure

"Evgeni (Plushenko) will not be at the World because it is not yet sufficiently recovered from his recent surgery of the spine," said Valentin Piseyev, general manager of the Federation, the Russian news agency RIA-Novosti.
Plushenko, a triple world champion and Olympic champion in Turin in 2006, was operated on January 31. Retired from competition in 2010, he made his return last year on the amateur circuit before winning his tenth national title in December.
Aged 30 years, however, he failed to win his eighth European title in Zagreb last month where he had left because of his back.
"We will decide his replacement after the finals of the Russian Cup to be held from February 16 to 19," said Piseyev, which particularly mentioned Maxim Kovtun, Sergei Voronov, Konstantin Menshov and Artur Gachinsky among potential candidates for a place the World.
