Player admits that while there were no specific targets set for last season he is convinced that team will improve and take things as they come in the Champions League.
James Milner says that Manchester City must
look to push on as a club next season and cannot rest on its laurels
despite an impressive 2010-11.
Even after putting an end to 35
trophy-less years by winning the FA Cup, landing third place in the
League and securing a Champions League spot, Milner believes that the
Eastlands club must strive to continue improving
He told Sky Sports News: "The main thing is to push Manchester City forward as a club.
"We
had a good season last season but it's all about bettering that. To do
what we did again last season, you have to keep pushing on and keep
improving year on year."
"We had a good season [last year], third in the league is a good achievement.
"Every team has strengthened their squad as well and there are obviously a lot of top teams.
Finishing
in the top four to secure Champions League football means that the club
will have a new experience of Europe's premier club competition to look
forward to in 2011-12, and Milner says that the side will just take
things as they come.
“The Champions League is going to be a new experience for us as a squad, so we will see
what happens and take things as they come. We will try and improve on last year.
Milner
also revealed that no specific targets were set last season and that
there is no intention to do things in a particularly different manner
this time around.
"Last year we didn't really give ourselves
targets, we knew that the target was fourth place but we didn't just
settle for that, we kept going and seeing what we could achieve.
"I'm sure we will do that this year and who knows what we can achieve."
