Hispania Racing say Bruno Senna will drive for the team for the rest of 2010 after being replaced by Japan's Sakon Yamamoto at the British Grand Prix.
A team statement read: "Hispania have decided to give an opportunity to one of its four drivers, Sakon Yamamoto, for this race, the British Grand Prix.
"Bruno Senna will continue to drive in the remaining races."
The reasons behind the decision to draft in Yamamoto for this race remains a mystery, and the team's statement on Friday shed no further light on it.
After the decision to replace Senna for Sunday's race at Silverstone, his manager Chris Goodwin dismissed claims that the 26-year-old had been sacked as "absolutely ridiculous".
He has so far refused to comment further on Friday.
Yamamoto is one of Hispania's two test drivers, along with Austrian Christian Klien.
Yamamoto started 14 races in 2006 and 2007 for now-defunct teams Super Aguri and Spyker, then run by Kolles, without scoring a point.
Senna has been classified in only three of his races so far, with his 16th-placed finish in Malaysia and China his best result this season.
At the most recent European Grand Prix in Valencia, Senna and Virgin Racing's Timo Glock were called to the stewards after they collided while fighting for position in the race.
Senna, who made his F1 debut at in Bahrain this season, finished runner-up in the GP2 support series in 2008 and started on pole at Silverstone in that championship as well as in Formula Three, but this weekend will be kicking his heels.
Hispania are one of three new teams this season and after not scoring a point they are understood to be fighting a battle for finances as well as one on the track.
