The "Doctor" will cure her recovery. Wounded in the leg during testing of the Grand Prix Italy, Mugello June 5, Rossi (Yamaha Factory) Think mostly back in full form. Not until five to six months prior.
How are you ?
Valentino Rossi: Everything is for the better. The worst is behind me and both operations went smoothly. Now however, I expect a difficult period when I must pay attention to any risk of infection and have the leg in the air constantly. Then comes another key moment, one where I can take a few steps with crutches and start my rehabilitation.
Professor Roberto Buzzi which you made in Florence about a recovery of five to six months. What do you think ?
V.R. : It was predictable that Dr. Buzzi is cautious in his prognosis. I want to heal. It's the only thing that matters. I miss four to six races does not change much. The right time to return could be done Brno (Ed.: GP of the Czech Republic August 15) but this is not necessarily the case.
Do you remember the accident ?
V.R. : I remember everything. My head did not hit the ground. My airbag worked well and my helmet is just scratched. I do not have a scratch. The problem is that I landed on my leg. Things have been different if I had been on the back. I had a new tire and I did two laps before slowing down because I had the Ducati ofHector Barbera behind me. When I got back on the racing line, the Honda of Dani Pedrosa came to his turn. To avoid interference I am again rejected and when I opened the throttle, it happened so abrupt and unexpected. Seven seconds were enough to radically lower the temperature of the tires. That's my fault.
Have you told any one time, "I give up motorcycling" ?
V.R. : Frankly, I've never been afraid. Admittedly, I was a little horrified when I saw the state of my leg, but what I dislike most is having to miss a maximum of racing! I will take the necessary time and I will not return until my fitness allows me. It is better to go after the rehabilitation in order to be competitive again for many more years.
What will you do with all this free time ?
V.R. : I'm going to rest in me, recuperate and to work my head. First I want to use this time to improve my English, read a lot and learn. My fall Saturday has no influence on the rest of my career. I just have a broken leg. My future has never depended on results in 2010.
During your enforced rest, you'll be able to hold your shoulder also recently injured in a crash motocross ?
V.R. : Yes. This is one of the few positive aspects of my fall. I'll be able to rehabilitate the shoulder quietly without going through an operation. When I return I will be in perfect shape, which does not mean I will win races right away. The body will be healed, but it will take care of my mind.
