Luxembourg's Kim Kirchen has withdrawn from the Tour of Switzerland after suffering heart problems at his hotel during the night.
Kirchen, 31, who finished seventh in the Tour de France in 2007 and 2008, was taken to hospital for further checks.
"He had problems earlier this spring in the Fleche Wallonne," Katusha team director Serge Parsani said at the start of the seventh stage.
Kirchen finished second in the Tour of Switzerland in 2007 and won two stages in the Swiss race in 2008 and 2009.
He wore the Tour de France yellow jersey for four days in 2008 and also won the Fleche Wallonne that year.
