Team has released a new solid performance in Istanbul and scored 8 points in 6th place with Robert [Kubica]. Are you satisfied with this result?
Alan Permane : Once again, Robert drove a great race and it earns points, but we were a little disappointed not to go past the Mercedes, because we seemed faster. As we have already seen many times this year, the first relay up pit stops play a vital role in the outcome. We thought we could gain positions when changing tires of Robert, we made a good stop, but unfortunately, Mercedes has gone a little faster and we got stuck in the train that has made all afternoon behind Rosberg.
Mercedes has been the team closest to Renault in terms of performance this season. How the balance of power between the two teams did it evolve?
AP: Our analysis of Turkey indicates that our race pace is better than theirs, but that Mercedes is faster in qualifying. This observation was the same in Barcelona. When I talked to Robert after the race Sunday, he felt that Rosberg had slowed and he could be faster. It behooves us to do a better job in qualifying order to bring us forward and to exploit the full potential of the R30.
Vitaly was on track to score points but suffered a puncture at the very end of the course. What are your thoughts on his performance?
AP: He did a great job and it would really deserved to score points after a race as strong. Unfortunately, contact with Alonso has caused a puncture. We can say that the races had been difficult for him with injuries that had destabilized the following weekend. This time everything went well on Friday. See Vitaly fight against the Ferrari and Alonso hold for most of the race deserves kudos. This will boost his confidence. It was by far his best weekend since the start of the season and he will, I hope, continue in this way in Canada.
The team seems to have maintained its pace of development, bringing something new to every race. The pilots were they satisfied with their car?
AP: The biggest new this weekend was the arrival of a new front wing, which has brought the extra performance expected. The pilots return to this subject has been positive. We were able to achieve a comparison between the old and the new version of this aerodynamic element data reported Friday and confirmed the predictions of the tunnel. Our strategy is to add new items every race has been one of our greatest strengths and that is a credit to all those working at the plant. In fact, we have a new front wing in the project. This should make its appearance in a few races and we will provide more downforce.
The team seems to be in a positive spiral right now and the car is competitive on all types of circuit. Do you share this feeling?
AP: I think our car is very versatile and it is easy to drive. Of course, Monaco was a special moment for us and it is clear that the R30 is perfectly suited to the twisty circuit, but we work hard to be as competitive on other types of strokes. We believe we have the same pace in Canada, where we will have more technical innovations. We also planned to appeal to other developments in Valencia and at Silverstone, which we will, we hope to pass Mercedes.
