Italian doesn't rule out move for Reds star...Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that he thinks Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is one of the best players in the world, but has refused to commit his club to making an offer for him.
Reports surfaced on Thursday morning that City were lining up a sensational £60 million raid on Anfield for the Spain international, and Mancini has admitted that any club in the world would want to sign the player.
However, the Italian insists that his club are for the moment fully focused on the fight for a fourth-placed Premier League finish and the Champions League football it will bring.
"Fernando Torres is a fantastic striker," Mancini told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.
"But all the teams in Europe are interested in him.
"We must get the rest of the matches out of the way first, then we will decide about other players.
"All the top players want to play in the Champions League.
"Next year we want to be a team who wins the Premier League. To do that we need top players."
Meanwhile, as City prepare for their weekend trip to the capital to face Arsenal, Mancini has urged Emmnauel Adebayor to stay calm after his impassioned antics during the clash at Eastlands earlier in the season.
"I remember that game because I watched it on TV," said the City boss.
"I don't know why it happened but it is important Emmanuel only concentrates on Manchester City on Saturday.
"It is important there is no repeat of those situations."
Mancini also maintained that the reports claiming he and Craig Bellamy did not enjoy an especially positive working relationship were well wide of the mark.
"I continue to read that I have a problem with Craig Bellamy," he added.
"This is false. I do not have any problems with him. If I did, he wouldn't play.
"I respect him. He works very well and always gives 100 per cent."
