Ekoku: Egypt too strong.

Eurosport commentator and former Nigeria striker Efan Ekoku would love to see Ghana's young side upset Egypt and win the African Cup of Nations, but he feels that the Pharaohs will have too much for the Black Stars.

Like most people, I think Egypt are hot favourites. They were my tip at the start and they have done exactly what I thought they would do.
They are unbeaten so far, are solid all over the pitch, have experience, quality, great momentum and belief - which is the most important thing.
Everything points towards an Egypt victory. They have beaten Nigeria and Cameroon and crushed Algeria in the semi-finals, while there are not many things I can say in favour of this Ghana team that makes me think they could win.
Of course, it is a two-horse race and under normal circumstances Ghana and Egypt would have similar odds.
The Black Stars could really do something at the World Cup this summer; if the experienced group of Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, John Mensah, John Pantsil and Sulley Muntari return, they will have the experience and defensive organisation needed to beat the big teams.
As it stands, this makeshift side have ridden their luck at times to get this far: gainst Angola they edged ahead and stayed there with some desperate defending and bad misses from Manucho - Egypt will not be so generous.
However, Ghana are U20 world champions and the current team includes many of the players from that squad.
They, like Egypt, have a lot of belief and were unlucky to lose against Ivory Coast in the first game after putting in a good performance - since that, they like, Egypt have won every game.
Ghana will need to have the match of their lives in defence and midfield to stave off Egypt but up front they do not have enough going forward to test Egypt and are naïve at times at the back.
Asamoah Gyan is good at this level but there is no one alongside him of the same quality, although midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will be key to Ghana if they are to upset the apple cart.
If I had to predict a score it would be 2-0 to Egypt in normal time. I would love to see Ghana win, it would be a wonderful story for the young players against all odds, but it might be a bridge too far.
